The M.Sc. Sport Management is a highly research oriented degree program emphasizing an international perspective. Therefore the objectives are to establish a sound expertise based on current research problems and to develop a scientific basis for decision-making in international sport management.

The full-time study program M.Sc. Sport Management comprises four semesters (two years). Classes are likely to be organized on two to three days per week as well as in compact classes from the first to third semester. All in all, the program consists of 12 modules, including the master’s thesis. Depending on the workload of each module credit points will be allocated, totaling in 120 credit points.

The programme aims to enhance the individual participant’s Olympic knowledge in social sciences and humanities, promote the individual participant’s critical appreciation of the nature and significance of values in the advocacy and practice of Olympism, Olympic Sport and the Olympic Movement, foster critical reflection on processes of continuity and transformation in the Olympic Movement and on the relationship between Olympism and Olympic practices and wider social contexts as well as develop the individual participant’s capacity to undertake independent research on relevant areas of the Olympic Movement by using appropriate methodologies. The programme implements a high-level, interdisciplinary curriculum in Olympic Studies which fosters the links between the academic world and the Olympic world. Candidates will be required to hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, and have at least two years’ work experience in an environment related with the interests of the Olympic family ideally.

Master of Olympic Studies

The M.Sc. degree programme in Human Technology in Sports and Medicine (previously called Sports Technology) fills the niche between the classical engineering sciences, informatics and sport science, thus aiming to build a bridge between sports equipment, sports clothing and the athletes themselves.

time frame | language | fees
The M.Sc. in Human Technology in Sports and Medicine is held in English. It is a module-based degree and takes 4 semesters. Each module is a closed unit with defined aims, content, and teaching and learning forms. To complete the module successfully, the candidate has to pass the module exam.
Performance points (credit points) are given which reflect the real amount of work done by the student. To pass each module students must gain 120 credit points.

The M.A. International Sport Development and Politics aims at a comprehensive understanding of structures, actors and conflicts in sport and physical activity. It offers an international focus on sport, including transnational and comparative dimensions. In order to obtain a profound knowledge and understanding of sport in its political, social, cultural and economic framework, the programme combines sport sciences with humanities, social sciences and economics. It is highly research oriented and fosters problem-solving capacities as well as methods for understanding and analyzing sport.

Master Program

German Sport University Cologne
The M.Sc. Psychology in Sport and Exercise targets graduates with a degree in sport science or psychology. Students should be interested in scientific thinking and working (e.g. conducting experiments) and theory- and research-based practical application (e.g. coaching of athletes and teams). Students are educated towards an integrated degree of sport and exercise psychology. Contrary to all other degree courses, the sport qualification test is not compulsory for the admission to any master program at the German Sport University.

Master programs at the German Sport University are modular and must be completed within four semesters. Each module is a self-contained unit with its own curriculum, objectives, teaching methods and examination (e.g. written exam, oral exam, demonstration lesson). The program teaching language is English. All in all, the study program M.Sc. Psychology in Sport and Exercise consists of 11 modules, including the master thesis.
