Culture and Environment in Africa

The Master Degree Culture and Environment in Africa is a two-year, English-medium, interdisciplinary degree focusing on the archaeological, historical and contemporary political ecology of the African continent. Particular attention is given to skills, methods and knowledge in interdisciplinary African human-environment studies. The degree will provide students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interrelationships between human agency, sociocultural dynamics and geo-biophysical processes.

Der Masterstudiengang North American Studies beinhaltet die interdisziplinäre Auseinandersetzung mit Geschichte, Kultur, Kunst, Literatur, Sprache, Film, Philosophie, Medientheorie, Politik und Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Recht und Völkerrecht des nordamerikanischen Raums (Kanada und Vereinigte Staaten) sowie der Karibik und Lateinamerikas. Das Studium soll, aufbauend auf einen Bachelorstudiengang zum Beispiel in Anglistik oder Geschichte, eine vertiefte wissenschaftliche und stärker forschungsorientierte Ausbildung im Bereich der nordamerikanischen Literaturen und Kulturen vermitteln.

This 15-month program combines international management aspects with theory and practice of intercultural communication. Its characteristic feature is the fact that students study together as a cohort at each of the partner universities, starting in Germany, continuing in Poland and China, and ending in the United States.
